They say that Weight loss is all in your head

I think that weight loss is all in the heart, or rather, that weight loss is possible when your head and heart are in agreement.

I’m talking about excess weight that creates profound discontent, weight that is rooted in, and perpetuates, mental anguish. I’m not talking about a few extra pounds that you gained after a recent or inconsequential event, such as smoking cessation, a lifestyle change, workplace stress, a new contraceptive pill, a pregnancy, or a passing case of the blues.

If there’s no malaise in your life, what I’m going to say next does not apply to you, because I obviously don’t want to systematize and put everyone in the same basket.

If I had to summarize weight problems in a word, that word would be “disconnect”.

When I look at who I am, my appearance, my past and my life, I have a hard time recognizing myself. That person does not represent what I want or like.

My head and heart are not in agreement; they’re in conflict.

My body image is also disconnected. I don’t exist from the neck down!

When you lose weight, you strive to eliminate that disconnect so that you can gain your life back.

They say you have to lose weight in order to like yourself. I think you have to like yourself in order to lose weight.
