Is the protein-sparing diet dangerous?

Dieters, like anyone else and probably more so because of their excess weight, may have illnesses and be faced with a wide range of health issues, such as digestive problems, cardiovascular problems, hormonal problems, neurological problems, etc.

They may or may not be aware of those health issues or illnesses.

It is quite possible that an illness-related incident will occur or arise unexpectedly while they’re on the diet for anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

If an incident does occur, it should not be concluded that there’s a cause-and-effect relationship between the diet and the incident, because in the vast majority of cases, the two are entirely unrelated. More often than not, it’s a coincidence and the illness would have manifested itself sooner or later anyway.

I’ve been prescribing this diet for 20 years and I assure you that, to my knowledge, not a single study or publication has ever called this diet into question and no incident has ever been reported in medical literature.
